From Bollywood to Hollywood, having someone to be in Love with, has been romanticized in all its shades.
“They” would like us to believe that, If you don’t have anyone to “Love”, it means you have not lived your Life well. This media bombarding has ingrained in our minds to BE in LOVE with someone or another, come what may, to seek a Love Interest at all times, else your life is worthless. We are constantly seeking a partner or a relationship which would have us believe that there is meaning to our life.
Then there is another school of thought that has been put out by a different section of the society. “Self LOVE” is the ULTIMATE. Every humans’ Goal in Life is to learn to Love your “Self” FIRST.
This concept has been interpreted in a manner that has made people Love themselves and Hate Others. They have become narrow minded, intolerant of others (humans or animals), selfish, jealous, “as long as my needs are taken care of, let the whole world go to hell, I don’t care” kind of attitude.

Good article. Also another point is only if one loves themselves they will b able to love others.
True that Samrat. Do elaborate on what it means to “Love themselves”
For me, Love is when one accepts the other person with his/her flaws. But …. before accepting others – we must be able to accept ourselves as we are coz if we cannot love and accept ourselves, we would never be able to love / accept others unconditionally
such a wonderful thought. Thank you
